To create a centerpiece video for Nottingham Forest’s season card renewal campaign. The club was looking to launch their new brand theme “That loving feeling” and this video aimed to create an emotive connection with the fans.
Working with actor and notable Forest fan, Arsher Ali, we created a video that captures some alternative stats associated with the club. It was clear that the community of Nottingham Forest was just as important as the players, and our video aimed to put this front and centre. By seeing the match-day experience through the perspective of stats, we were shining light on some of the smaller moments that don’t always get celebrated.
Using a mixture of time-lapse photography, live-action footage and re-using NFFC’s archive material, we blended this with hand-drawn motion graphics. It was important to us that the video felt energised and vibrant, and to not fall into the trap of more slower and reflective sports videos that have been done many times before. We used hand-drawn cell-animation, kinetic typography and rhythmic editing to create a feeling of movement and momentum. The campaign was launched to an overwhelming positive reception on Facebook and YouTube.
