To sum up 100 years of animation into 30 seconds, celebrating the history of British Animation as part of the Anim18 festival.
Our approach aimed to take the viewer on a visual and sensory tour of the last 100 years, moving through key styles and moments in a fast paced and dynamic style. From early hand drawn animation, to collage, to stop-motion and children’s character animation right through to future facing VR and 360 video.
We developed artwork for each of the key moments in the last 100 years of animation, being careful to feel authentic and celebratory of the work within that period. We used a mixture of authentic methods from hand-drawn to stop motion to ensure each style was correctly represented. We then paired all of this together with a fluid camera movement that took the viewer on a journey through each scene.
