It's been a busy few months here. Not only some exciting client work being produced, but another opportunity to get out and about came from the Cine Hub project, from EM Media.
Back in February, EM Media was inviting 8 experienced filmmakers to train pupils and teachers in film production and editing across selected East Midlands schools. Fat Free Media director Neil Rostance was invited to Hope Valley College to do just that...
Over the last 15 weeks we've been working with year 8's to write, develop, produce, direct and edit a series of short films. It's been an intensive introduction into making films, mirroring industry standards and using filmmaking skills to apply to other learning environments.
The project has been been a fantastic opportunity for next generation of filmmakers and digital creatives to have first hand experience with industry professionals. We've had a fantastic time seeing ideas and skills develop over the weeks.
The pupils have shown impressive enthusiasm and creativity, and a confident eagerness for making moving images. The groups were given the opportunity to try all roles within filmmaking and develop particular skills from scriptwriting, sound recording to post-production.
Cine Hubs project is produced by EM Media in partnership with East Midlands Regional Partnership Gifted & Talented Group. It is one of the four pilot projects of the UK Film Council’s moving image education initiative Film: 21st Century Digital Literacy (www.21stcenturyliteracy.org.uk)
